Luke 12:32-34

 32"Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

How easy and often I set my heart on posessions and earthly comforts.  Even when I am given certain blessing and/or gifts, I still long for greater ones with a selfish heart.  The falacy is that 'just one more ... and I"ll be good."  It's never ending in the world of posessions.  It's like an addiction that you can never feel as though you've had your fill.  Only God can give us fullness.  Only God can make us feel complete.  He fills us up entirely.

Be thankful for what God provides us.  In the BIG picture, God is orchestrating everything in our lives and it's up to us to recognize and accept what He has given/blessed us with.  Be content with the Almighty for He can out give and pour into us like nothing else.  How great He is!

Father, forgive me for always wanting more than what you provide.  I appreciate and am thankful for everything you give.  It is with a thankful heart that I seek your understanding for you know well in advance the outcomes of each and every situation long before it occurs.  Powerful are you Lord and loving.  Thank you Father, continue to bless me.

Amen!

Tim's devotions

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom;
all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
To him belongs eternal praise.

Psalm 111:10

Fear God each and everyday. Out of this fear, we as men and women, will begin to understand His power, His might and His love for us. When we throw caution to the wind or live our lives 'in the flesh', we are falling victim to the enemy. When we do not fear the Lord, we rely on ourselves of which the enemy wants us to believe is the right way. Stay the course and fear God and all will be well.

I know when I am out of touch with the Lord, I can feel it and it's unmistaken. I feel anxiety. I feel fearful and begin to tumble into a web of deceit and fear which is absolutely what God does not want for us! He wants our entire hearts, our souls each and every day. In the days that I fall outside of Him, I actually pay with human capital and sometime my very own soul! The enemy wants us to fall and to default into a world of deceit. When we fear God, we are honoring Him.

Lord, thank you for your forgiveness and willingness to take me back each and everytime. Grant me the peace and wisdom to my son's when they drift away from me. I ask that you continue to guide me and offer me your strength in challenging times. I know your power and your ability of controlling all outcomes. If it is to be, it is through you.

Amen!

Tim's devotions

If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just
and will forgive us our sins
and purify us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

We are all sinners and proclaiming this fact to the Lord is a step in faith. We have to be bold and courageous in the fact that no matter what our sin, He forgives and gives us redemption if we admit our sins.

Lord, please forgive me for my continual sins. I trust you, love you and know that I am loved by you. Please grant me strength and faith to remain in you as I begin to walk down an unfamiliar path. You are my saviour and I am blessed to have you in my daily life.

Heavenly Father, please protect my family and I. I trust and know that you will take care of us as you always have. Thank you for loving me and holding me to a higher standard. You know exactly what lies ahead and I await with great anticipation. Thank you Jesus!

Amen!

Tim's devotions

"I have told you these things,
so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world."

John 16:33

Jesus is preparing his disciples for his crucifixion. He tells them that there will be great suffering, but to have faith in Him, not in the world and there will be eternal joy through him.

Each day brings opportunities for worry and distress. However, when I lean on the Lord and begin to 'walk beside him', it feels like a 'fresh spring' and brings peace to my day. For I know that the Lord has given his one and only son to overcome anything that the world may throw out. Jesus offers us eternal peace through him.

Dear Father, thank you for your son Jesus! He is our saviour, our leader, our brother who loves us more than himself. Thank you for giving him the strength to endure all of the pain in order to provide us eternal life through him. Thank you Father, my life is yours!

Amen!

Tim's devotions

"I am the vine; you are the branches.
If a man remains in me and I in him,
he will bear much fruit;
apart from me you can do nothing.

John 15:5

What a beautiful metaphor! Very intimate, connected and true. When we are an extension of the Lord, our lives are complete, allowing God's fruit in our lives. When we are not connected or not in allignment with the Lord, we miss his blessings.

For me to 'remain in Him', I must be diligent with my walk which includes daily devotions, leaning on Him for everything, praying throughout my day, surrounding myself with other Christians and obeying His word.

Lord, you are my 'roots' and without you, I do not stand a chance in this life! For the times I do not seek you, or lean upon you, I ask for your forgiveness, for I do not know what I am doing outside of you. For my remaining days, I choose to seek you for all of my needs, grow in you, with you forever and ever.

Amen!

Tim's devotions

The Sovereign LORD is my strength;

he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,

he enables me to go on the heights.

For the director of music. On my stringed instruments.

Habakkuk 3:19

When we allow God to be our strength, he lifts us up to places we cannot get to on our own. Relying on him serves his kingdom and becomes testimony of his power and love.

Whether our times are bright or dark, leaning on Him is the Way. Honoring him and putting forth our trust in him is what God wants. I need to give of myself entirely. In my moments of darkness, when there appears to be no hope. That is when the Lord can bring me forth and put me in a place only he can deliver me. How great is our Lord?

Heavenly Father, I come to you on bended knee. Forgive me and wash away my sins. I give myself entirely to you for you are My Father and I love you with all my heart. Hold me in your arms, hold me close as I stumble. I will walk tall and strong knowing you always have my back.

Amen!
